WHAT's NEW
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

What's new on this web page?

If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), ... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.

April 22, 2019. Family - At The BBC Family has recently released a limited edtition (whatever that means) box set of 7CDs and 1DVD of live performances. Some of which even the most dedicated collector may not have seen or heard in a very long time. Pick it up while you can.

February 20, 2007. While web surfing, I noticed that Family has recently come out with two BBC Radio CDs. I have the details, and they are listed on this web site. In the past, the studios have been reissued with bonus tracks. Since I haven't received any copies or information on the reissued CD or bonus tracks, I have not been able to update this site with that information.

July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.

October 12, 2004. I just noticed that Message To Love - Isle of Wight DVD has been released, and it contains 1 track by Family.

June 7, 2002. I started creating this page. :-)

FAMILY
INTRO:
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

The Farinas started in England in 1962. Their early influences included rock, blues and soul music. In late 1965 through 1966 they changed their name to The Roaring Sixties. In late 1966 they changed their name to Family, which they kept until they broke up in 1973. They were also developing their own style, and writing their own music. Family played progressive/hard rock, which featured a unique lead singer, and interesting instrumentation (violinist for first two albums-vibes and sax) and interesting tunes.

After Family: Roger Chapman was in Streetwalkers, and later released solo albums.

After Family: Charlie Whitney was in Streetwalkers.

After Family: Ric Grech was later in Blind Faith, Traffic, Crickets, and did session work.

Prior to Family: John Wetton was in Mogul Thrash.
After Family: John Wetton was in King Crimson.

After Family: Jim Cregan went into session and production work as well as various other bands including Rod Stewart.

Prior to Family: John Weider was in Eric Burdon and The Animals, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, ....
After Family: John Weider was in Stud, Nicky James, and various other bands.

Prior to Family: Poli Palmer was in Deep Feeling, Bakerloo, Blossom Toes, ....

Prior to Family: Jim Cregan was in Stud, Blossom Toes, ....

Prior to Family: Tony Ashton was in Remo 4, Ashton Gardner and Dyke.
After Family: Tony Ashton was in Paice Ashton and Lord, and various other bands.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated.

And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.

Do you have any articles, books, albums, tapes, CDs, ... on this band that you would like reviewed and / or integrated into this page?

Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

This is an experiment. I am listing various classified ads that might be of interest to browsers of this page.

Let me know what you think of this idea?

Also, let me know how this worked out for you.

MusicStack looks like a good source of used music items (LPs, CDs, posters, ...).
As always, let me know what you think.

4 Million Hard to Find CDs & LPs at MusicStack
December 10, 2002.
Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.

As always, let me know what you think.
