PETER GREEN's FLEETWOOD MAC
WHAT's NEW
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

What's new on this web page?

If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), ... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.

November 30, 2022. Christine Perfect, who later married John McVie and became Christine McVie passed on. While not a regular member of the early version of Fleetwood Mac, she was an important and influential member of later versions of the band. You can read about her in in this article from The Guardian.

July 25, 2020. Peter Green (Bluesbreaker, Fleetwood Mac, solo performer) has died at the age of 73. His contributions to the music world were enormous and will be missed.
Rolling Stone Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac Co-Founder and Guitar Great, Dead at 73.

June 6, 2019. Fleetwood Mac - Before The Beginning 1968-1970 will be available for purchase. These are two previously unreleased, compete concerts, one from 1968 and one from 1970. These tapes sat in the vaults for 40 years and are being released with approval of the band. At least according to all the information I've been able to find. UPDATE The original release date of June 2019 has been pushed back to October 2019. UPDATE Speculation in the collector community is that the 1968 show is from June 22, 1968 at the Carousel. The same sources specualte the 1970 show is from the run of shows from January 30 - February 1, 1970 at the Wrehouse in New Orleans that were recorded by the Grateful Dead who were the headliner and recorded ALL their shows, and sometimes the opening acts.

June 2018. Danny Kirwan, who as an 18 year old joined Fleetwood Mac in August 1968 died in June 2018. Read a more complete obituary at The Guardian.

October 18, 2011. Bob Brunning, original bass player with Fleetwood Mac died of a heart attack. Read a more complete obituary at The Guardian.

February 16, 2008. I recently read a rumor that the English Rose album is being remastered and reissued (with 12 tracks) and in a picture slipcase with extensive liner notes.

May 31, 2007. You can now listen to streaming free music from this band as well as others at Wolfgangs Vault.

July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.

April 16, 2003. Someone from Warners/Reprise just sent me a link to allow you to preview Fleetwood Mac's new CD, Say You Will

February 25, 2002. I just received information on a couple of shows that Fleetwood Mac played at the Carousel in June 1968. Thank you David.

February 2, 2002. I just picked up the Advance CD version of Shrine '69 on the Ryko label. It is missing one track from the commercial release of this CD, Albatross. But it has one extra track, an x-rated version of Blue Suede Shoes. Check it out if you can!

December 10, 2001. I just received Show Biz Blues of Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1970, and I am in the process of updating this page with the information for this 2 CD set of mostly unreleased material.

March 10, 2001. It looks like I may have been premature in moving to a new web hosting site. I just found out that whenever Tripod.com is having hardware or software problems with their servers, they put up a message for the webmaster that their site is in violation of terms, and the web site has been deleted (instead of a message about system problems and try again later). Anyway, I believed Tripod.com when they said they deleted my account, so I will be moving, and making chromeoxide.com my new home on the web.

March 10, 2001. As long as I am moving my entire site, I decided to make a few changes to the layout of the individual pages, and the web site in general, including (but not limited to) I removed the counter, and moved the listings of mirror sites to the bottom of the page, ...

March 6, 2001. Sometime between March 1 to March 5, 2001 Tripod deleted my account/web site. The last stats Tripod gave me were 9,000+ visitors per month. Since my site is so popular, I have decided to keep it going, in spite of this major setback. But rather than trying to build up another free web site, and possibly deal with this problem again, I decided go with CommandLine.net to host the new chromeoxide.com.

October 31, 2000. The new Chrome Oxide Music Collectors Pages Message Board is provided by EZBoard.

April 13, 2000. I was just informed that Peter Green's new album is coming out next week, and he will be doing a short UK tour in support of it. Check it out if you can.

December 4, 1999. I just picked up The Complete Blue Horizon Sessions 1967-1969. This is a budget priced collection of ALL the early recordings. It also has a fair number of unreleased tracks, as well as alternate versions, and studio banter. Even if you previously purchased all the CDs individually, I think this is worth buying.

And of course, as I have the time, I will be updating my web site to reflect the information included in the booklet.

November 18, 1999. I just picked up the Fleetwood Mac - Live In Boston 3 CD box set. Just as I was beginning to think that it was never coming out. If you haven't picked up any of these yet, here is this is the perfect time to get all 3 CDs, in one nicely priced package.

October 31, 1999. There used to be a complete listing of all the bands featured on this site at the bottom of each page on this site. The complete band list has now been moved to the Site Map.

Back in June 1997 when I started this site, the index at the bottom of the page seemed like a good idea. Due to the amazing growth of this site, I now think that the Site Map is a better way to do it.

I will continue to list the featured band of the month at the bottom of each page on this site.

December 3, 2002 CD Now is undergoing changes, and asked that ALL links be removed.
October 28, 1999 I signed up with CD Now.

October 22, 1999. The Chrome Oxide Music Collector Pages web site hit the big time! And I didn't even know it.

Tripod stats showed that this web site had more than 4,000 unique visitors last month (September 1999). Because of that, Tripod has increased my web space from 11mb to 50mb.

October 6, 1999. I just read in a recent copy of Record Collector magazine, that the 6CD set is almost ready to go. It will contain the original 5 albums by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and an additional 32 previously unreleased outtakes (demos, studio talk, ...). Release date is supposed to be fairly shortly (you can pre-order it now on Amazon.com).

June 26, 1999. I just received Shrine 69, a live recording from January 25, 1969 at the Shrine Exposition Hall, in Los Angeles, on the Rykodisc label, from the Dinky Dawson collection.

May 21, 1999. On the advice of legal counsel, we have now added a copyright notice, and legal disclaimer to the bottom of each page on this web site.

March 31, 1999. I started a new section on this page, Classifieds. Now, if someone is interesed in putting an ad here, or I find something I think is worthwhile, there is a place for it.

March 25, 1999. While not exactly Fleetwood Mac, I recently picked up the new Peter Green Splinter Group Soho Sessions which is a 2 CD live show that features a lot of Fleetwood Mac and Robert Johnson material. Definately worth checking out.

March 16, 1999. Thanks to a recent visitor to this page, we now have a logo for the Chrome Oxide Music Collectors Pages, as well as a new background and seperator bars. There may be additional changes to look forward to as well.

December 3, 1998. I just received The Vaudeville Years of Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1970, and this page is now updated with the info for this 2 CD set of mostly unreleased material.

October 11, 1998. I just found out that Fleetwood Mac - Live In Boston vol 1 (released June 1998), vol 2 (released September 1998, vol 3 (not released yet), is an extended reissue of "Live at the Boston Tea Party" from February 1970. It looks like it will contain everything on the original vinyl release, plus some extra tracks. I will post more details on my site after I pick up my copy, and have a chance to listen to it.

PETER GREEN's FLEETWOOD MAC
INTRO
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

Fleetwood Mac started out in the 1960s as a Chicago style electric blues band from England. Lead by Peter Green, they soon added a second, and later a third guitarist. While this was going on, their sound was evolving from a straight blues based sound, to a blues/rock sound. And after Peter Green and (later) the other two guitarists left, it evolved to a rock/pop sound. All of them were very talented, with Peter Green writing most of the songs.

While Fleetwood Mac had their greatest success in the 1980s and 1990s as a pop band, my favorite version of the band was with Peter Green. And judging by the number of compilations and re-issues of the early material, I think the record labels agree with me.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated.

And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.

Do you have any articles, books, albums, tapes, CDs, ... on this band that you would like reviewed and / or integrated into this page?

Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

December 10, 2002.
Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.

As always, let me know what you think.
