CHROME OXIDE: WRITER Public AppearancesUnder the pen name of Chrome Oxide I write humorous science fiction and fantasy. However, I've been accused of writing murder mysteries since I murder the English language and it's a mystery how I get published.
When people ask why I write humorous science fiction and fantasy, I explain that my reality check bounced.

Writers of the Future, Awards Ceremony, April 14, 2013
A message from Chrome Oxide
Some of you may have noticed that in additional to recording bands and helping out with the merchandise sales, I've been hunched over and scribbling in the dark. I've been doing this because I am under the delusion that I am a writer.
To further this delusion, the Writers of the Future will be including one of my stories in their 29th annual "Writers of the Future". For some reason, this year I am the ONLY non-contest winner having a story published. The mass market paperback will be available for purchase for the small sum of only $8.00 starting on April 14, 2013. After that the book will be available online (at Amazon and other sites) and offline (at Barnes & Noble and other stores).
For those wishing to see me wearing a tuxedo and without my shoulder holster or my 30 pounds of recording gear, there will be an awards ceremony for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the contest. While none of the publicity is geared for contestants in 4th place, because they are publishing my story, I get to go up on stage and embarass myself. If that isn't enough, I will be able to make a fool of myself afterwards in the area set aside for the writers to autograph their stories.
For those contemplating attending, you can get an idea of what the prior awards ceremony looked like by going to Writers of the Future and watching the video.
If that hasn't discouraged you from attending, then maybe this will:
The awards ceremony will be at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on Sunday the 14th of April. It seats 1,200 people. It is beautiful.
The start time will be in the early evening, but the exact time hasn't yet been set. There will be food (but not a full meal) afterwards.
The awards ceremony dress code will be black tie optional. Men should wear a suit if they have it, tuxedo if they want to and if they have neither of those, they must look nice. No jeans allowed.
The event is free, the parking is valet and also free. It is suggested that guests purchase the Writers of the Future book for $8.00 at this event. If you want to encourage me to continue writing, then consider buying more than one book. They make great gifts. If you buy more than one book, I will autograph any of the CDs or DVDs that I have worked on. For those still undecided, for the mere cost of $8.00 you can hobnob with celebrities, in a georgous setting with food. What more could you ask for?
If that isn't enough, there will be two test models of the Curiosity Mars Rover, on loan from JPL.
And of course the book signing (you are buying a book, aren't you) afterwards will feature all four of the quarterly 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners along with me. Each story will have an illustration from the Illustrators of the Future, and they will be there to autograph as well.
People MUST RSVP. Nobody gets in without their name at the front door. Lots of celebs and media are going to be there so security is tight.
